When was the last time you stopped to ask... Does my dog actually need another vaccine?
Many pet owners are surprised to learn that immunity from core vaccines often lasts much longer than the annual reminder card suggests. In fact, many dogs continue to have protective immunity years after completing their puppy vaccine series and booster vaccinations. Rather than guessing, there's a simple way to know.
What is a Vaccine Titre Test?
A vaccine titre test is a simple blood test that measures your dog's antibody levels to determine whether they still have protective immunity against core diseases.
Instead of automatically revaccinating, titre testing allows you to make informed decisions based on your dog's individual immune system. At Woofur, we believe every dog deserves a personalized healthcare plan—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Why Consider Vaccine Titre Testing?
✔ Determine whether your dog is still protected
✔ Avoid unnecessary vaccinations
✔ Reduce exposure to unnecessary vaccine-related risks
✔ Make informed healthcare decisions using objective laboratory results
✔ Support a more individualized approach to lifelong wellness
What Does the Research Say?
Over the past two decades, veterinary immunologists including Dr. Ronald D. Schultz and Dr. W. Jean Dodds have helped advance our understanding of vaccine duration of immunity and the value of antibody titre testing.
Their research has demonstrated that many vaccinated dogs maintain immunity for years beyond the minimum labelled vaccine interval and that antibody testing can be a valuable tool for assessing protection on an individual basis. Their work has also highlighted the importance of avoiding unnecessary revaccination while still ensuring pets remain protected against serious infectious diseases. If you'd like to learn more, we encourage you to read one of Dr. Jean Dodds' peer-reviewed publications: "Duration of Immunity After Rabies Vaccination in Dogs: The Rabies Challenge Fund Research Study"
